Kieran Dunkin is the Principal Programme Sponsor for the Transpennine Upgrade at Network Rail where he leads the interface strategy between client and delivery agent for the £2.9bn programme. A chartered civil engineer, Kieran joined the rail industry in 1999 and has since held several senior positions - first within Railtrack and subsequently Network Rail - with a proven record of delivery of major, multi-million-pound rail/station enhancements across the north of England. Since starting his current role in 2016, Kieran has worked collaboratively with the client (the Department for Transport) to specify the remit for this high-profile programme, while leading his 700+ strong team to successfully meet the early development milestones and progress on to delivery. A keen practitioner of structured continuous improvement, Kieran is breaking new ground on how major programmes are developed and has adopted innovative ways to approaching challenges. He puts the customer first, and is passionate about safety and performance.
